… is good news, compared to the original 9/11. Even bad news is good news compared to the original 9/11, although that’s probably not all that consoling if you’ve had bad news today.

Haviland: L, 5 – 5.
Old Detroit: L, 3 – 5.
Pittsburgh: “L”, 6 – 5. Nothing too tragic atop the table, just three old guys’ teams meandering their way toward the finish line. This is a pennant race among tortoises at the moment.
Flint Hill: W, 10 – 6. Hmmm. Some drama here — mostly James McCann going 2 for 3 with two doubles and a walk.
Cottage: “W”, 4 – 6.
Peshastin: W, 3 – (-1). Here’s another dramatic result, gaining the Pears a half game on their official rivals, the Dragons; and 0.7 on their real rivals, the Cheese.
Canberra: W 1, L – 1; 17 – 13. More drama! It’s possible I failed to update the ‘Roos yesterday or something. 30 runs are not going to score on a day where the box score shows the ‘Roos only going 2 for 13 with a walk, and the pitchers completing a total of 1 inning, allowing 1 run. But if you go back two days? The ‘Roos rumble to a .353, .400, .745 batting line — easily clearing 17 runs in two days. Meanwhile the pitchers complete 7.3 ip for 6 earned runs allowed.
Kaline: W 6 – 2. This league is upside down. The last are winning, while the ones up front are losing.
Portland: “W”, 0 – 3. One of your most-lopsided phony wins ever! This is actually brilliant. The unwitting fans in Portland — not the highest baseball IQ there — get a win, so they’re happy. But behind the scenes, Portland regained the #4 pick in next year’s draft by letting the Rockies pass them in the regular standings.
