See if you can spot the things in these standings that make a reasonable EFL owner get a little bit nervous.

(For kicks, I’m posting the entire MLB standings with us included — see all the way down at the bottom.)
OK – here are the slightly scary things, in the order of their scariness:
- The Balk are undefeated and in a very strong third place! They just got here! They promised us their goal was to stock up on future Hall of Famers. They promised us it would be years before they’d be a threat. But they are better than 7 teams who’ve been in the EFL a total of about 64 years. If they can sneak right in and dominate, what does that say about the rest of us?
- The Dragons are already repeating! They aren’t supposed to do that. It’s the Wolverines’ turn!
- Or more likely the Alleghenys’ turn, since it’s been a year since they’ve won. So of course, it has to be their turn. Which is why they are lurking there in fourth place.
- I haven’t forgotten the Rosebuds. I saw their preseason forecasts putting them close to — or even in — first place. But I am not as scared of them — sorry, Mark — because they haven’t hurt me before and, really, if the Woeverines can’t win I wouldn’t mind if it was someone new. (But not TOO new, you Balk!)
- Ditto the Kangaroos, with the added note that no one in 5th place looks all that scary.
I wish I had time to analyze this further. But it’s after 5:00 and new results are pouring in. So — enjoy the full standings and what’s left of our 87-degree summer day.
