Creeps atop the standings; the settled middle class apparently unready to mount a revolution; lower middle class/working people struggling dog-eat-dog fashion. Who says this is a fantasy league?

The Wolverines are getting a little creeped out. They go about their daily business — you know, the usual stuff: sitting in the limo chatting with the driver, or discussing with the caddy the proper club to use from the par-3 16th tee at the country club, or maybe strolling with one’s member of Congress while making sure he understands his instructions — and always, just off at the edge of one’s view there’s someone staring at you. I’m sure you’ve all experience these things. Just now the W’s were busy sealing their latest win — the umps are getting so expensive these days — when they glanced up to see them again: those two pairs of eyes, one so floral and the other so reptilian, staring, staring, staring… And getting closer, too… It’s getting harder to dismiss them as figments or strays. They’re there all the time, looking hungrier and fiercer. The Ws’ dreams are troubled, they have gotten a little jumpy. We’ve been getting calls at the Commissioner’s Office to send someone around to shoo the lurkers away. Perhaps we’ll get around to it — eventually.
Canberra: W, 6 – 1.
Pittsburgh: “W”, 6 – 9.
Flint Hill: W, 6 – 5.
This is the middle class of the EFL, the bedrock of the league. They are all doing fine — nice records, safely above .500, great players on their teams, etc. But the media are filled now with complaints about how people in the middle class are in pain. Mostly they mean everyone in the middle class thinks they should get a turn being part of the upper class, and is all upset because the way seems blocked. And you know what? I agree with them. It’s time the middle class had a chance to rule. And you know what? I agree with them. Let’s eject, say, the two bottom teams from the upper tier to open up some space for enterprising teams to make it to the top.
Peshastin: L, 3 – 7.
Cottage: W (-1), L 2; 3 – 11.
It turns out not all cosmic events are elite. Some are easier to reverse than others. And the Pears are further ahead of the Cheese than they were behind yesterday, so this may not be a mere blip. We’ll see if the Head Cheese can explain this one away.
Kaline: “L”, 3 – 2.
DC: W, 5 – 3.
When the last place teams can keep up on a day with the first place teams, that’s a pretty good day.
