Quick notes for Sunday morning. You could probably get through them in church without anyone catching on.

D.C. Balk | 38 | 56 | .409 | 19.8 | 396.1 | 479.8 |
.
Portland: L, 2 – 6. (37 PA, .148, .378, .148; 21.0 ip, 9 er, 3.86 ERA) Betts: 3 for 4 with a walk, 1.550 OPS. Anthony Rendon: 1 for 3 with a walk, .833 OPS. The other 8 Rosebud hitters: 0 for 20, albeit with 7 walks, .259 OPS.
.
Old Detroit: W, 4 – 3. (48 PA, .220, .333, .390; 13.3 ip, 5 er, 3.37 ERA) All of that pitching came in the Dodgers-Angels game, including Rich Hill’s scoreless inning in relief.
.
Canberra: W, 11 – 5. (47 PA, .400, .489,. 675; 7 ip, 4 er, 5.14 ERA) In the EFL universe, Wade LeBlanc’s stumble (4.3 ip, 4 er) is covered by robust hitting featuring 6 players OPSing 1.000 or better, led by Starling Marte’s 2 homers and a double in 8 trips to the plate.
.
Brookland: W, 4 – 3. (50 PA, .167, .300, .381; 4.7 ip, 0 er, 0.00 ERA) The thing that bugs me about this is Gregory Polanco cranking two homers. I don’t remember him ever doing that for the W’s.
.
Cottage: W, 9 – 1. (37 PA, .303, .378, .697; 7 ip, 0 er.) Danny Duffy: 7 ip, 0 er. July ERA: 2.84. Oh, THERE you are, Danny!
.
Pittsburgh: “L”, 6 – 5. (39 PA, .250, .308, .417; 3 ip, 0 er). Stephen Piscotty led the offense with 2 doubles and a walk in 5 PA.
.
Flint Hill: “L”, 5 – 5. (49 PA, .244, .265, .422; 7.3 ip, 3 er, 3.68 ERA). Jake Bauers earned his promotion in Flint Hill with a homer, double and walk in 6 plate appearances.
.
Kaline: “W”, 9 – 9. (44 PA, .369, .409, .615; 11 ip 9 er). Michael Fulmer muddied up a beautiful day with his 4.7 ip, 7 er performance. Hunter Renfroe’s seventh inning pinch-hit homer avoided the loss.
.
Peshastin: L, 0 – 4. (38 PA, .139, .184, .250; 8.3 ip, 3 er, 3.24 ERA). Javier Baez (2 for 5 with a double and a homer, raising his July OPS to 1.005) and Jack Flaherty (5 scoreless innings) were the pair of Pear highlights.
.
Haviland: L, 2 – 6. (26 PA, .200, .231, .200; 13.7 ip, 8 er, 5.27 ERA) The only EFL team not to have a potentially full contingent of batters Saturday — but then the ones who showed up didn’t quite reach a replacement level performance, so maybe it was ok.
.
DC: L, 2 – 5. (44 PA, .250, .318, .400; 7 ip, 4 er, 5.14 ERA). Kole Calhoun may be back: 2 for 4 with a double, a homer and a walk — and it wasn’t even against the Mariners!
