The All-Knowing, All-Hearing Commissioner heard the lament of the Dragon-master, about the miseries of being low in the standings. And The Commissioner had pity on those poor Dragons who have gone almost two years now without winning an EFL championship — longer than everyone in the league except Canberra, Peshastin, Kaline, Portland, Cottage, Flint Hill, D.C., and Old Detroit.
So the Commissioner ordered the world to be turned upside down, so the spotlight could shine on the seventh-place Dragons, who are lower in the standings than everyone except DC, Peshastin, Kaline and Cottage.
We are not sure this addresses the “what it’s like” the Dragons were referring to, but the Commissioner also ordered other measures to be taken, too, like putting AJ Ellis on the Haviland BP roster for August, an oversight that had not been caught by the EFL error correction process until just yesterday. (Reminder: there is no more reliable error correction agent than you are! Please check your EFL stats for indications of any errors ASAP so problems can be fixed before we reach the end of August, when flaws become permanent.)

DC: “W”, 5 – 6. (36 PA, .294, .333, .588; 5 ip. 4 er, 7.20 ERA). A day to savor the offense, led by MVP candidate Matt Chapman: 3 for 5 with two homers. Dylan Bundy ruined the party, mostly, since he was entirely responsible for the dismal pitching line.
.
Peshastin: “L”, 4 – 4. (31 PA, .241, .290, .448; 1 ip 0 er).
Kaline: “W”, 4 – 5. (43 PA, .237 .302, .447; 8.7 ip, 5 er, 5.19 ERA)
Cottage: W, 7 – 4. (31 PA, .357, .419, .571 — Happy Edgar Martinez Day!; 6 ip. 2 er. 3.00 ERA).
Haviland; W, 4 – (-1). (32 PA, .207, .281, .276; 12.3 ip, 8 er, 5.84 ERA).
Flint Hill: L, 2 – 3. (34 PA, .207, 200, .345; 10 ip, 3 er, 2.70 ERA).
Pittsburgh: L, 11 – 15. (48 PA, .350, .438, .750; 6 ip, 10 er, 15.00 ERA). Alas! A great day at the plate ruined by sloppy pitching from Eovaldi and Estrada.
.
Canberra: W, 10 – (-2). (46 PA, .359, .435, .667; 15 ip, 2 er, 1.20 ERA).
What a great day for the Kangaroos! If only they’d had a few more days like this this season. Hoskins, Eaton, and Bote homered. Blake Snell and Steven Matz both dominated from the mound. There’s no reason these players couldn’t have been doing this all along. Right?
.
Brookland: W, 6 – 1. (48 PA, .244, .292, .489; 10.3 ip, 1 er, 0.87 ERA) The Outs also had a great day, with homers from Machado, Polanco and Schoop.
.
Portland: “L”, 7 – 6. (35 PA, .333, .371, .567; 11.3 ip, 7 er, 5.56 ERA)
Old Detroit: “L”, 4 – 3. (35 PA, .219, .286, .375; 1 ip, 0 er, 0.00 ERA)
