This season the Red Sox unveiled their City Connect jerseys, which are the color of the Boston Marathon theme – a bright yellow and light blue combination – that is certainly a cool design but nothing like their normal red lettering on white or grey jerseys. This past weekend they wore them, and were supposed to wear them for only the weekend. But you know baseball players – they swept the series and figured their uniforms were good luck. So now they are wearing them until they lose – which means you are hopefully going to see these yellow and blue Red Sox jerseys all the way until October 3rd!
The Tornado fans are trying to convince their team to put on their lucky jerseys. But the team has no idea which jersey is lucky. So, tonight, they are going to wear all of them at the same time. It will definitely be uncomfortable but desperate times call for desperate measures. And at least it is turning into Fall so a few extra layers will help the players stay warm.

The Wolverines had a pitcher pitch last night, Marcus Stroman, but he ran into the current buzzsaw known as the Red Sox, who will be wearing their bright yellow City Connect Jerseys (seen in the image) as long as they keep winning (they’ve now won six straight!). Stroman gave up 4 runs in 5 innings, and was the only pitcher to appear, giving OD 2 replacement innings, too. The hitters tried valiantly to score 10 runs again, but fell just short. JP Crawford alone went 3 for 5 with a double and a home run. Ke’Bryan Hayes added three hits of his own, all singles, and Austin Riley hit his 30th home run on the season. Despite losing, the Wolverines did not lose any ground at all to the Tornadoes.
Flint Hill: L, 0-3; 67PA, 19.7IP
AVG: 0.258 |
OBP: 0.299 |
SLG: 0.435 |
OPS: 0.734 |
The Tornadoes are stuck on 99 wins and cannot get to 100. The numbers listed above are perhaps as misleading as they could possibly be. Take for instance the slash line of .258/.299/.435. You would think that would produce some runs, and indeed, it would. But not when 6 of the team’s 16 hits are 100% in Granite Flats, including half of the extra base hits. And the pitching wasn’t good, but it wasn’t as good as it looks there, either, as two of the innings pitched were in Granite Flats. Yesterday was the perfect day to gain some ground, really any ground, on OD and we didn’t do it.
DC: W, 11-6; 43PA, 2.3IP
AVG: 0.303 |
OBP: 0.465 |

The Balk brought their bats, scoring 11 runs yesterday to earn a convincing win. Xander Bogaerts and Enrique Hernandez both homered for the Balk/Red Sox, and Pete Alonso homered in the same game, but for the Balk/Mets. Eleven hitters came to the plate, and all but three of them earned a walk, and all but three of them got a hit. It was a great day at the plate for the team. The pitching was good, though sparse, as only two relievers appeared, but they kept the other team scoreless which was enough to join the replacement pitchers in earning a win.
Kaline: W, 11-6; 49PA, 8.3IP
AVG: 0.381 |
OBP: 0.429 |
SLG: 0.714 |
OPS: 1.143 |
Thought the Balk offensive line was good, the Drive’s was even better (though it resulted in the same amount of runs scored – mostly due to surplus PAs for the Drive). Kaline had 12 batters appear, and ten of them recorded a hit. Aaron Judge and Phil Gosselin were both 2 for 4 with a double and a home run – I guess they are basically the same player? Jose Altuve and Willson Contreras each added a home run to the total. The pitching was average, but good enough to earn a win and hold off the Pears, for now.
Peshastin: W, 7-1; 36PA, 7.3IP
AVG: 0.313 |
OBP: 0.389 |
SLG: 0.500 |
OPS: 0.889 |
The Pears earned a convincing win, thanks in large part to excellent pitching – the very thing they requested in their update two days ago! Trevor Rogers gave up only one earned run (though 4 total) in his 5.3 innings pitched. Two relievers joined in the fun, and the Pears held their opponent to only 1 run scored. Juan Soto, Max Schrock, Yoan Moncada and Mike Zunino all got two hits apiece, and Ozzie Albies contributed a home run.
Canberra: W, 8-5; 42PA, 4.7IP
AVG: 0.278 |
OBP: 0.381 |
SLG: 0.556 |
OPS: 0.937 |
The Canberra catchers were awesome yesterday, with Mitch Garver and Austin Nola combining to go 5 for 9, with Nola contributing a home run. Vlad, Jr. went 2 for 4 with a double in his quest to win the Triple Crown. Dane Dunning was not stunning, giving up 2 runs in only 2.7 innings, but two relievers pitched scoreless innings and the Roos won!
Cottage: L, 3-4; 37PA, 14IP
AVG: 0.200 |
OBP: 0.243 |
SLG: 0.286 |
OPS: 0.529 |
The Cheese pitchers pitched well yesterday, though I am not sure which of them are allocated and which are not since Cheese management has been so quick to bench and unbench these undulating hurlers. The best one was Mitch Keller, who I believe is allocated only 50%, while the worst was Daniel Lynch, whom I think is not allocated at all. But the hitting wasn’t quite strong enough to win the game. Shohei Ohtani hit a home run after a bit of a drought, apparently not content to let Vlad, Jr. walk away with the home run title, but outside of him and his LA counterpart, Trea Turner, who had two singles, no one else did very much.
Pittsburgh: “L,” 5-4; 29PA, 6.7IP
AVG: 0.310 |
OBP: 0.310 |

The Alleghenys won, despite getting 0 walks on the day. They had good contributions from almost the entire lineup – Bobby Dalbec went 2 for 4 with a double, and Luis Robert went 2 for 5 with a double. Only Dominic Smith didn’t get a hit, for which the Red Sox are very thankful. Luke Weave pitched good enough for a win, giving up 3 runs in 6.7 innings.
Haviland: W, 10-7; 36PA, 1.3IP
AVG: 0.355 |
OBP: 0.444 |
SLG: 0.581 |
OPS: 1.025 |
The Haviland Hitters hit heroically yesterday, sending them to a win even though the pitchers allowed 7 runs to be scored. The team collected 5 doubles and one triple (the triple from catcher JT Realmuto). Kyle Schwarber went 1 for 2 with 2 walks for the Red Sox/Dragons. Jose Iglesias was 1 for 3 with a double for the Red Sox/Dragons.
Bellingham: L, 5-7; 46PA, 14IP
AVG: 0.243 |
OBP: 0.391 |
SLG: 0.351 |
OPS: 0.743 |
Everything was just OK for the Cascades yesterday, and they needed at least some greatness in order to win. Kevin Gausman gave up three home runs to the Padres, and Tyler Mahl gave up 3 earned runs to the Pirates. The batters managed to earn 8 walks, which is impressive, but only 9 hits. Jack Mayfield made one of those hits a home run.
Portland: L, 1-3; 39PA, 5IP
AVG: 0.216 |
OBP: 0.231 |
SLG: 0.270 |
OPS: 0.501 |
That’s the kind of pitching you want to see as an owner, but that is not the type of hitting you care for, truth be told. Tyler Alexander was responsible for all of the pitching. Max Kepler and CJ Cron were responsible for 6 of the 8 hits, but they couldn’t muster enough oomph to power the team to a win.
