Here is a recap of the history of the EFL championships:
2004 Old Detroit (record unknown — it was above .500)
2005 Pittsburgh 91-71
2006 Old Detroit 87-75
2007 Pittsburgh 101-81
2008 Pittsburgh 93-70
2009 Pittsburgh 100-63
2010 Pittsburgh 108-54
2011 Old Detroit 100 – 62
2012 Old Detroit 97-65
2013 Haviland 97-65
2014 . Pittsburgh 107-55
2015 Haviland 105-57
2016 Haviland 101-61
2017 Pittsburgh 115-47
Here are some observations about this recap:
- It pays to be the one to post such things. The poster gets to decide which looks better –starting at the beginning or at the end. Definitely the beginning.
- It’s been a while since there was a gang of three. It’s been a gang of two since 2013.
- Look at the range of championship-winning records:
- Pittsburgh: 91, 93, 100, 1o1, 107, 108, 115
- Old Detroit: unknown, 87, 97, 100
- Haviland:97, 101, 105
- Clearly this is the Alleghenys’ league. Others only win when the A’s aren’t pushing win totals into the stratosphere.

Here are some more notes:
- Just a jot or a tittle separates the EFL from the EPL.
- For the first fourteen seasons of the EPL (through 2005/06), Manchester United won 8 championships.
- Pittsburgh is the Manchester United of the EFL.
- If you ignore the flukey Blackburn Rovers there was Gang of Three at the end of 14 seasons, with Arsenal and Chelsea the junior members.
- Arsenal hasn’t won since 2003/04. The Wolverines look more like Arsenal than Chelsea.
- It will be only 5 more years before a different team wins the EFL, if we continue to follow the EPL path.
- Haviland will interrupt the Allegheny march one more time one of these years.
- Ryan is a Manchester City fan. Could the Kangaroos be the Manchester City of the EFL?
- The owner of the EFL team analogous to Leicester City has probably already been born.
- Maybe we should create a relegation process to add some spice to the season for the bottom-dwellers.
I just now learned that the red figure holding a trident on the Manchester United crest is a Red Devil. Manchester United’s nickname is, or used to be, the Red Devils. This inspires some further notes:
1. No wonder Ryan roots for Manchester City. They are more than the Mets of the EPL. Go Ryan! Go Manchester City Devilbusters, or whatever you are called! You are anti-demonic heroes!
2. Well, yes, but by the same token so would be the Mets.
3. I have a new level of respect for Mets fans. i.e., one level.
4. I am not intending to say, or imply, or connote, or have you infer that the Alleghenys are demonic. I am sure they are not. Pretty sure.
5. Supernatural? Very possible. But if so, in cahoots with angels, surely. Or maybe elves. Right?
