(.306, .390, .639; 20.7 ip, 5 er). … the Outs uncorked a monster day just when it looked like they might be sliding out of the dogpile atop the league, jumping from 4th to 2nd place. Three players led the offense going 2 for 4 with homers: CJ Cron, Daniel Descalso (who doesn’t play for the Cardinals so is not the reason Kolten Wong is losing his job in St. Louis, as I alleged the other day), and good old Manny Machado. Jake Arrieta hurled 7 shutout innings, and Zack Godley and Jeremy Hellickson also pitched well.
