Arrival in Lucerne

We have arrived in Lucerne! All of us were exhausted after a long day of travel that featured two flights (10 hours and 1 hour) plus a train trip. The biggest news of the day is that the pain in Karen’s knee has greatly increased and she was unable to go to dinner with us. After getting some rest, however, she did go out on a short walk and shot a few of the photos that you see here.

The rest of us went to dinner at a recommended brewery and had a great time together.  I took a photo of Mom’s dinner; it is a stuffed pretzel! The pretzel is soft, like bread, and they slice it in half and make a sandwich out of it. I ordered one too; we agreed that it was interesting but not particularly wonderful.

Eating out here is very expensive; the stuffed pretzel was about $17 and dessert you see in the photo was around $13. It was delicious! I purchased a meat crepe from a walk-up booth and brought it back for Karen at the hotel.

The Chapel Bridge is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Lucerne, but it is under restoration so we couldn’t cross it. The paintings that used to hang in the eaves are gone, which makes walking the bridge a lot less fun than expected. But it is very photogenic.

I had dinner tonight with Kathleen Carey and she was telling me that Dave from the choir was heading to Europe with some other people. I didn’t realize it was you and then you tagged Linda and I saw your picture I knew exactly who she was talking about. It looks like a fun time. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures! Enjoy!
