There are three famous peaks visible from most places in the Berner Oberland region of the Alps: Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Roughly translated, the names mean Ogre, Monk, and Young Lady, respectively. There is an ancient and predictable legend about the Monk protecting the Young Lady from the attentions of the Ogre, but I’ll leave that one to your imagination.
